How To Choose From The Different Types Of Roller Conveyors
Roller conveyors are among the most common and effective of transportation systems for simple items. They have many uses in industry, and in the wider world as well. There are many different types, usually defined by the way in which they are powered. They can even be completely without power, as the roller is the ideal mechanism through which to create an incline conveyor, capable of taking an item from one level to another without any use of mechanical or electrical power.
Conveyors as a whole can save a business a lot of man hours over time. The removal of the need for an employee to physically transport an item from one place to another can make a huge difference to the productivity of each individual. Conveyors can often deliver items to a worker before the work on the previous item is even finished, effectively reducing the transportation time to zero. Roller conveyors are among the most versatile, so you need to decide which of the available choices is best for you.
The gravity roller conveyor systems are the easiest to install, provided you have the right type of building structure for their use. They need no electrical installation, unless they are to be used as part of a greater system which does involve the use of power. They only need an incline which will be steep enough to guarantee the continued movement of the item until the end of the conveyor. This is less steep than the incline would be if you were not using rollers.
A gravity roller conveyor, once it is installed, will save you money every day. It uses no fuel, but it will still allow you to eliminate the need for employees to physically move the items carried on it. Of course, this will be suitable for, or applicable to, every situation, so you will need to consider the possible motorized alternatives. If you need to transport items over a flat surface, or you need to move them several times over a longer distance, then it is not likely that gravity roller conveyors will be right for you.
A mechanized system will involve you in a higher running cost, but that could even be offset to a degree by the easier installation. Whereas inclined roller conveyor systems need a special installation within a modified area of the building, ordinary electrical systems can be erected virtually anywhere. You are far more likely to be able to use an off the shelf solution, which again will work out cheaper than any custom made conveyor. Have a look on the Internet for solutions which are moving the type of goods you aim to move, and see if you can find a similar one. There is sure to someone local who can install your roller conveyors.
